The PCAS Rammies adaptive swim team for youths with physical disabilities practices at West Chester University (WCU) from February through April.
PCAS is excited to partner with WCU to host the Rammies. The University provides both pool time and the expert coaching assistance of Dr. Monica Lepore, along with her group of dedicated university students.
This swimming partnership offers athletes both a developmental track for learning how to swim, and a competitive track to prepare for competing in adaptive swim meets.
Competitive swimming requires the ability to swim without a flotation device for 25 yards or more.
Participants have gone on to compete at the Junior Nationals,
both individually and as relay teams, in addition to competing in triathlons.
If you are not yet a competitive swimmer, and want to learn how to swim 25 yards continuously, you can apply to join the developmental team. The program is free for interested young swimmers.
