Volunteer with Us

A large network of 250+ volunteers makes it possible for PCAS to provide an inclusive environment designed to focus on a common love of sport rather than on a person’s disability.

Our top-notch volunteers absolutely love to share their passion for sport whether it’s on the trail, on the river, on the slopes, or in the gym.  Volunteers participate in a variety of sports and activities alongside others with adaptive needs so both enjoy their common sport. Our team also works with the athletes in customizing equipment adaptations to meet their needs, assisting them onto, and maintaining equipment.

We welcome volunteers of all talents and levels of experience. We work with your schedule and no minimum hours are required.

CYCLING VOLUNTEER

Greeter
As the greeter, you help coordinate the flow of the day including sign in, matching riders to a helper, and maintaining any paperwork including mileage logs.

Riding Partner
Our weekly Saturday morning cycling group needs volunteer riders to captain tandem bikes for visually-impaired cyclists. Adaptive handcyclists select a bike from our fleet of handbikes to get out for a spin on MLK Drive or around the loop. Volunteers assist these riders with equipment set-up and put-away and perhaps accompany an athlete or ride with a new volunteer.

Maintenance
We all know that sport equipment requires a bit of maintenance. There’s always the need for someone to fill tires, adjust a chain, repair a flat, or tighten a seat.  We have the tools if you bring a willing hand.

ADAPTIVE ROWING VOLUNTEER

Greeter
As the greeter you help coordinate the busy flow of athletes, volunteers, and equipment. You will also greet arriving rowers, visitors, and liaison with that evening’s rowing supervisor.

Rowing Partner
We maintain a boathouse packed with single and double skulls so rowers with many abilities and levels of fitness can access the Schuylkill River. Partners assist with all steps of this process: equip boats with setup designed for each rower, assist athletes in and out of the skull, and row with them for a recreational or athletic workout. Volunteers with more rowing experience teach others to row, so volunteers learn to row as they help others.

Monday through Thursday, April through October
5pm to Dusk
Weather permitting
