Adapted Skiing

at Camelback Mountain

The knowledge and enthusiasm of our instructors guarantee a great day on the slopes.

Each weekend from January to early March, weather permitting, a group of trained PCAS volunteers and ski instructors specially trained in teaching students with disabilities offer ski lessons at Camelback Mountain Resort, Tannersville, in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains.

Our goal is to enable people with disabilities to ski and ride independently with friends and families.

Skiers of all abilities are paired up with instructors who are specially trained in adaptive techniques, including mono-ski, bi-ski, 3 track, 4 track, and guided skiing for the visually impaired. Our instructors are also well versed in techniques to teach individuals with intellectual disabilities and individuals who are deaf or hearing impaired.

Our adaptive equipment is fitted specifically for the participant prior to the beginning of a lesson.

Our program continues to grow. Last season, thanks to generous grants from the Warrington Rotary Club, Craig’s Gladiators, and Identifor, we have added new state-of-the-art bi-skis to our inventory, enabling us to accommodate more sit-skiers.
